  • The Canadian Climate Institute (External link), launched in January 2020, is an independent climate change policy research organization that brings together experts from diverse disciplines to undertake rigorous research, conduct insightful analysis, and engage a range of stakeholders and rights-holders to provide evidence-based advice on climate policy. The Institute's main research priorities include incentivizing clean economic growth and low-carbon competitiveness,     reducing emissions and accelerating Canada’s net zero energy transition, and making our economy and infrastructure more resilient to a warming climate.
  • The Institute and the NZAB regularly partner on engagement and research focused on putting Canada on a path to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

  • Most recently, NZAB commissioned the Institute to conduct modelling and other analysis to inform its independent advice on the biggest gaps and opportunities to help Canada achieve its 2030 target, and on establishing Canada’s new emissions reduction target for 2035.
  • NZAB and the Institute also co-host Canada’s biggest annual climate change conference. This annual conference convenes climate policy experts and decision makers, Indigenous knowledge holders, industry leaders and civil society to highlight the latest research and advance a shared understanding of current policy issues.
  • Both NZAB and the Institute are founding members of the International Climate Councils Network (ICCN).
